During your subsequent visits, Dr. Talwar and his team can review any new dental developments against your long-term history.

With each time you visit Smileville Dental for your dental appointment, we’ll assess your teeth and gums. Dr. Talwar will carefully inspect any signs of discolouration, discomfort, decay, and changes to your overall oral health. If there are any concerns identified, including early detection for oral cancer, Dr. Talwar can describe a treatment plan or refer patients to a necessary specialist.

Here are just a few examples of why having regular family dentistry is good for your overall health, and not just your teeth and oral health. Let’s take a look at prosthetic joint replacements and heart stents. If you have had a body part replaced, such as a shoulder, hip, heart valve or knee, or a heart stent placed, you will be advised to take what’s called a prophylactic (preventative) antibiotic before dental cleanings and other procedures. It is for the protection of the surgery site from an infection that your surgeon will make this recommendation. It’s really that you tell your dentist if you fall into this category. Once they are informed, they will have this information on record and will know how long you are required to take the preventative antibiotic.

If your family has access to health insurance with dental coverage, you can provide the insurance details during your first visit. From then on, the Smileville Dental clinic will be able to quickly and conveniently get a breakdown of your dental benefits, if available, from your insurance provider. Rather than paying first and waiting to be reimbursed, we will process your claim directly through your insurance provider limiting the impact on your direct finances.
